12:19:06  <swaagie>feklee: hey there, what are your main problems
12:19:33  <swaagie>if you don't mind to give some feedback
12:19:36  <feklee>swaagie: Billing failed, app down. without a warning. This is not the first time that there was unexpected *long* down time.
12:19:50  <feklee>Also, performance really is not great.
12:19:57  <feklee>And for that the price is too high.

12:20:35  <swaagie>ok, which part of the performance exactly, e.g. deployments or other things
12:20:41  <feklee>If they had accepted my app for free OSS hosting I may have considered staying...
12:21:04  <feklee>swaagie: Load time / bandwidth. At least the last time I checked, it was slow.

12:22:39  <feklee>swaagie: Well it's cheaper, fast, and more reliable. Just my experience.

23:21:59  <jcrugzz>stevemanuel: that is quite odd, have you redeployed since we rolled out our new infrastructure?
23:22:48  <jcrugzz>and there is no way you destroyed the application?
23:23:09  * mokesquit (Remote host closed the connection)
23:24:10  <stevemanuel>yes. then my app was only returning 502s. then I stopped it, redeployed against 0.10.x, and it threw it into a crash loop (wouldnt install fibers). so i reverted back to 0.8.x and it was ok, but was still crashing. I gave up on it for the night last night after stopping the app. today it was just completely gone from my account
23:24:20  <stevemanuel>I definitely wouldnt have destroyed it
23:24:37  <stevemanuel>I just redeployed it now and everything seems Ok so far
23:24:44  <stevemanuel>although I'm still on 0.8.x
23:27:07  <jcrugzz>stevemanuel: I can understand it crashing with fibers (i dont trust it personally) but theres no way it should have been destroyed
23:28:41  <stevemanuel>@jcrugzz: dont trust fibers?
23:29:37  <stevemanuel>@jcrugzz: im using Meteor for one of the pieces of my service and I need it, but your input on how Fibers as a dep is untrusted would be good to know
23:29:57  * optikfluffeljoined
23:30:55  <jcrugzz>yea I dont believe fibers/meteor is the correct way of going about things. (partial personal preference on meteor). But Fibers essentially hooks into node's internals and does its own threading
23:31:11  <jcrugzz>trying to do threads on top of the OS level can get hairy
23:32:04  <jcrugzz>and they didnt get the Fibers library supoorted on SmartOS (which we run on) until about 3-4 months ago so im still unsure of its stability
23:32:47  <stevemanuel>I see. Yea I feel ya there.. I'm currently a 1-man team so the benefits Meteor provides where I use it are too nice to pass up on
23:32:54  <jcrugzz>Im more of the philosophy of composing smaller modules to build your application as it inherently gives you more understanding of what you are writing.
23:33:01  <jcrugzz>stevemanuel: but yea i totally understand that point
23:33:12  <jcrugzz>when it comes down to time, meteor will help you get something up and running
23:33:24  <jcrugzz>fairly quickly
23:34:31  <stevemanuel>for sure! the other 2 apps as part of the service are all written from scratch
23:35:27  <stevemanuel>i had prototyped them out in a PHP framework to just get them launched and seriously have over 50x performance now that they are in Node w/o a framework
23:35:43  <jcrugzz>the beauty of node :)
