03:59:46  <julianduque>mmalecki: +1
04:00:31  <mmalecki>this was easier than expected, actually
04:00:47  <aconz2>couple quick questions: is the filesystem read/write on a nodejitsu drone? does it have a size limit?
04:01:37  <julianduque>aconz2: Yes, about ~5gb but is temporary, the uploaded files aren't persisted across deploys
04:06:20  <aconz2>julianduque: Thanks I don't think I came across that information anywhere else. And I'm assuming you can't use child_process in a single drone?
04:07:29  <julianduque>aconz2: afaik there is a problem with event management because the apps are launched via child_process in haibu
04:08:12  <mmalecki>nope, you should be able to use child_process with no problems
04:08:24  <mmalecki>except your main script has to do the listening and all that
04:08:38  <mmalecki>keep in mind that you have limited memory tho
04:08:46  <julianduque>mmalecki: thanks
04:09:06  <mmalecki>:)
04:11:01  <aconz2>mmalecki: for clarity, does that also apply for a single drone instance or does it require multiple? and so are there limitations on the commands that can be run with child_process.exec?
04:11:05  <jkennedy1980>Hey guys. Is there anything special I need to do to make Socket.io work. My project runs fine locally and will not run on nodejitsu. My page gets served but the socket connection fails.
04:11:52  <mmalecki>aconz2: this applies for a single drone instance. you can exec whatever's executable on the drone, but your process runs with really limited privileges
04:11:57  <julianduque>jkennedy1980: make sure you are connecting to jitsu and not localhost

04:15:00  <jkennedy1980>juliandugue: I checked that. Here is the page that uses the Socket.io-client to connect back to the server: http://xfinity-movienight.jit.su/start
04:15:09  <aconz2>mmalecki: so is using something like a git command wrapper a feasible thing to do on a drone?
04:15:13  <jkennedy1980>if you check the JS you'll see the URL looks OK.
04:15:21  <mmalecki>aconz2: yup, should work :)
04:15:50  <mmalecki>jkennedy1980: nope, port is 8080
04:15:55  <jkennedy1980>this project looks like shit... just trying to get nodejitsu working
04:16:04  <mmalecki>jkennedy1980: you can just use io.connect() :)
04:16:05  <aconz2>mmalecki: rad!! awesome thanks so much for your help, this is such a great resource
04:16:12  <mmalecki>socket.io will figure it out
04:16:22  <jkennedy1980>really? Do they have to make it so easy? :)
04:16:22  <mmalecki>aconz2: no problem. I'm adding your questions to FAQ right now :)

04:16:36  <jkennedy1980>lol

08:21:53  <julianduque>hopewise: nope, you need to implement a static server or serve the file in the http server

10:46:52  <`3rdEden>_C1D: but we only allow users to use port 80

10:47:18  <_C1D>So there no way you guys could make an exception
10:47:29  <`3rdEden>but srsy, Avast also blocks websockets on port 80

21:14:23  <distilledchaos>just noticed, on package.json.jit.su, the info for "name" calls npm NPM...

21:46:43  <nathan7>Regan: Oi, we'd better check that out then
21:46:44  <Cory_>kenperkins: well, haha, I guess for cloudfiles. I have buffers in my express upload, every time I upload a file. Then I'm piping to cloudfiles. Cloudfiles doesn't know what it's recieving, (I think it reads it as content type / json ), but luckily the browser knows that they are jpgs. Shady, I know, just takin' little steps haha
21:49:47  <Cory_>Do you guys think it could be because my streams aren't ending correctly? Wouldn't that finish the buffer, 'turning it into' a jpg in my uploads folder? Either way, I have had the pipe work, it just doesn't always. Perhaps I need to be logging any and all stream events to get deeper into it, although I can get events from rackspace.upload ( the writestream destination)
