12:58:01  <mhdawson>mattloring: last nights build failed as well so obviously a persistent failure. looking at the failure the url seems to point to the nodejs repo. I'm wondering if its either due to a change on the v8 side or maybe due to the chnange we were looking at to stage v8 in our own repo
12:59:49  <mhdawson>I'll open an issue to track investigation

13:25:48  <joaocgreis>I don't know if this is a known issue, but there's a persistent compilation failure in freebsd for v4.x-staging: https://ci.nodejs.org/job/node-test-commit-freebsd/4929/nodes=freebsd11-x64/console (cc jbergstroem thealphanerd) If it's not supposed to compile in freebsd
13:26:15  <joaocgreis>at all I can add a guard like Windows uses for VS2013

20:16:40  <Trott>mattloring indutny: Looking at the test-tick-processor-* stuff (because it's still flaky)... Would it make sense to replace the three tests with a single test that just creates a tick log file and makes sure it can read that tick log file and a few minor checks, but get rid of the current pattern matching tests? My reasoning is this: Except for the polyfill
20:16:40  <Trott>files, the tick processor is a V8 thing. Unless we're floating patches for things the tests check for, they're really testing V8. That combined with the non-determinism of the tests makes me wonder if we should simply test our code and test that we are passing things correctly to V8 where applicable.
20:17:21  <Trott>(We could also move the three current tests to another directory where we can run them when we update V8 or whatever, but not on regular CI runs or something like that?)
20:23:07  * not-an-aardvarkquit (Quit: Connection closed for inactivity)
20:24:46  <mattloring>This test was designed to test the logic in lib/internal/v8_prof_processor.js in addition to lib/internal/v8_prof_polyfill.js. We want to make sure that the prof processor packages the correct set of scripts from v8 and introduces the correct platform specific logic.
20:25:56  <mhdawson>The other thing is we added a command line to Node.js to expose the processor so we do have some responsibility to ensure its working
20:26:40  <mhdawson>but that might be more that the command line enables it as opposed to the detailed implementation
20:26:49  <mhdawson>which may just be what mattloring said as I think of it
