08:45:11  <acolomb>Hi all!
08:46:34  <acolomb>I've just tried out the first CoApp release and had some troubles during installation.
08:48:13  <acolomb>First of all, after trying the installation of the core component several times, it seems that the event log filled up. After clearing it, changing its maximum size to 5120 k instead of 512 k, and setting it to overwrite old events, it now works again.
08:49:04  <acolomb>I suppose with the currently rather verbose output of CoApp components, the default settings should be adjusted accordingly when first creating the event log.
08:49:58  <acolomb>This is just my layman's explanation of what happened, not sure what's the right way of fixing it.
08:51:25  <acolomb>The other problem probably has to do with network shares. I first saved the core MSI for installation on a network share. During installation, it threw an exception and the event log said something about "unable to add feed <path-to-netshare>...".
08:51:57  <acolomb>After copying the directory containing the MSI files to a local drive, it now works.

15:13:44  <FearTheCowboy>as for the bootstrapping, yeah, there are a couple of problems, we're setting up some automated testing VMs where we can watch it install from scratch on a blank VM and see where things are going wrong.
15:19:07  <auroraeosrose>FearTheCowboy: the only bootstrapping weirdness I've seen is it doesn't pick up changes - have to log in/out or reboot
15:19:09  <auroraeosrose>quite annoying
15:19:29  <FearTheCowboy>Yeah, that too.
15:43:25  <acolomb>FearTheCowboy: Sounds reasonable :-) I'm glad to hear it's on your radar.
15:44:33  <acolomb>Overall, this is all coming together very nicely. CoApp feels great! I'm eager to do some more testing when time permits.
15:45:06  <FearTheCowboy>I'm in the middle of writing a new repository service & tool for making feeds/uploadingfiles/etc.
15:45:25  <FearTheCowboy>Trying like hell to get this out this week so I can get back and fix some bugs in the core.
15:45:42  <FearTheCowboy>I've got a few patches waiting to be merged in.
15:46:04  <FearTheCowboy>once I get back that, I'm going to go wild on documentation, how-tos, and tutorials
15:46:10  <FearTheCowboy>that'll help a tone
15:46:12  <FearTheCowboy>tone
15:46:15  <FearTheCowboy>ton
15:46:40  <virmitio>tonne?
15:46:42  <FearTheCowboy>I guess that was half-way between 'ton' and the metric 'tonne'
15:46:50  <FearTheCowboy>'shitload'
15:47:18  <FearTheCowboy>my Canadian roots are showing I guess.
15:47:35  <virmitio>showing your true colours?
15:48:27  <FearTheCowboy>:D
15:49:06  <auroraeosrose>LOL
15:50:58  <auroraeosrose>and there's the first video driver crash of the day
15:51:02  * auroraeosrosekicks nvidia
15:53:30  <FearTheCowboy>Yeah, NVidia's been hell lately.
16:01:58  <ender|>i've had quite a few problems since i upgraded to win8
16:02:51  <ender|>i get a driver crash just after logging in nearly every day, and a few times the graphics card wouldn't even initialize
17:02:26  <auroraeosrose>oh well this is some major fail
17:02:31  * auroraeosrosegrumbles
17:02:41  <virmitio>what this time
17:03:18  <auroraeosrose>so the configure system is totally screwed when it builds x64 binaries
17:03:34  <auroraeosrose>it names all of them php5ts.dll regardless of thread safety/debug
17:03:35  <auroraeosrose>LOL
17:03:56  <virmitio>well, that's somewhat less than optimal
17:04:47  <auroraeosrose>eh, it still WORKS fine, it's just stupid
17:04:53  <auroraeosrose>should just always name it php5.dll
17:04:54  <auroraeosrose>;)
17:05:07  <virmitio>that would make the most sense
17:06:24  <auroraeosrose>hmmm, or maybe I did bad things to it (entirely possible
17:06:37  * auroraeosrosemumbles
17:07:31  <virmitio>I didn't run into any troubles that I was aware of building as x64, but I think I also only tried building thread-safe
17:07:38  <auroraeosrose>dunno
17:07:45  * auroraeosroseruns stupid little script again
17:08:12  <virmitio>I'll give it another look in a bit after I finish setting up the test sandbox
17:08:22  <auroraeosrose>eh, I think my script was screwed up
17:08:45  <auroraeosrose>I have an evil script of doom to build PHP super basic cli in all 2 arch's, 4 flavors a piece
17:08:54  <auroraeosrose>then copy it all over with header files
17:08:56  * auroraeosrosemumbles
17:09:38  <auroraeosrose>oooh - earthquake
17:12:04  <virmitio>auroraeosrose: didn't think you got those out where you are?
17:12:11  <auroraeosrose>not here, watching twitter explode
17:12:17  <auroraeosrose>went to play on the usgs site
17:13:08  <auroraeosrose>so you get one in the phillipines on the 31, one in sri lanka on the 3rd, .... both in 6-7 range... and then on the other side of the plate costa rica goes "shakey shakey"
17:13:18  <auroraeosrose>make perfect sense actually ...
17:13:44  <virmitio>true
17:14:05  <auroraeosrose>they have tsunami warnings out though
17:14:35  <auroraeosrose>and apparently damage won't be too bad... cause it's like the middle of the jungle and all
17:16:41  <auroraeosrose>apparently visual studio grumps when you do size_t to uint wiht the 64 bit compiler....
17:17:22  <virmitio>yep, but should just be warnings
17:17:33  <virmitio>a lot of them, but still just warnings
17:17:42  <auroraeosrose>yeah, just warnings
17:17:45  <auroraeosrose>but it's annoying
17:17:54  <auroraeosrose>I should be evil and just pragma them off
17:18:14  <auroraeosrose>I usually like warnings cause I'm an anal programmer
17:18:17  <virmitio>meh, I'm not sure it's really worth the effort
17:18:21  <auroraeosrose>but ones I can't fix are just annoying
17:18:35  <auroraeosrose>eh, yeah but it's hard to pick the real issues out of the warning spam
17:19:40  <auroraeosrose>hmmm, looks like where it's angry I can safely force that cast
17:19:45  <auroraeosrose>should shut some of the junk up
17:21:00  <auroraeosrose>doesn't like me using sizeof there
17:21:04  <auroraeosrose>but that's the correct usage....
