18:09:29  <gman>Hey all, I am completely new to the cloud9 code, and am trying to get it running on in my environment but have just crashed and burned. I'm more familiar with Windows so started there, but apparently there is an issue in sm on Windows. So I've tried on Ubuntu, and get all the way to 'sm install' in the cloud9 folder, but it fails out. It looks like there is an issue with 'libxml' and
18:09:29  <gman>particularly the 'o3' inside that. I'm not real comfortable reporting since I really have no idea what is going on. Is there any way I can get cloud9 running without building? Specifically, can I get the build code for the UI somewhere?
18:10:00  <mattpardee_>hey gman
18:10:05  <mattpardee_>sorry for the troubles you're having :-\
18:10:09  <mattpardee_>there is a workaround, one second
18:10:32  <gman>its cool... that would be awesome
18:16:13  <gjtorikian>what is libxml saying, exactly ?
18:16:51  <mattpardee_>I can't find the damn repo with the fix
18:19:23  <gman>sorry, not totally sure how to read the massive error, but this is my guess"cannot stat 'build/Release/o3.node': No such fule or directory"
18:20:47  <gman>if I do a "npm install libxml" it seems to throw the same error
18:22:02  <mattpardee_>I https://github.com/ajaxorg/node-libxml/issues/3
18:22:09  <mattpardee_>github search wins again
18:22:16  <mattpardee_>searched for libxml and it didn't find it, lol
18:24:49  <gjtorikian>do you have make on your Ubuntu system ?
18:25:30  <gman>I'm trying that now, thx matt. yes I did get make added
18:28:59  <gman>OMG!! 3 days of pain is over. Thanks so much Matt
18:29:13  <mattpardee_>yay!

20:03:08  <justicefries>did this in c9 this morning for a little fun.
20:03:30  <justicefries>real time conversion of getUserMedia to grayscale using typed arrays

20:04:01  <mattpardee_>hey there's a hole in my shirt

20:06:01  <justicefries>is your FPS decent?
20:06:07  <mattpardee_>yeah it looks good
20:06:32  <justicefries>i'm working on a peer-to-peer pong that only uses the server for matchmaking.
20:06:37  <mattpardee_>can you use webgl instead of canvas
20:06:39  <justicefries>yeah
20:06:49  <justicefries>i'd just have to render it as a texture to a quad
20:07:05  <justicefries>and then write a shader that grayscales it
20:07:20  <mattpardee_>finally we can come up with a joke that fits the punchline "I'll buffer your face"
20:07:24  <justicefries>haha
20:07:44  <justicefries>i'm thinking of doing the conversion in a web worker too
20:07:50  <mattpardee_>ah good idea
20:07:51  <justicefries>that then uses a transferable object to push it back to the main thread.
20:08:13  <justicefries>it already doesn't have to do GC
20:08:16  <justicefries>which is awesome
20:13:16  <justicefries>ahhh I'm not sure between pro w/ retina or maxed out new air

22:03:45  <gman>Hey guys, another question for you. node is awesome, but we don't use it and I would REALLY like to use the c9 UI to edit files. My question is, is there a way to host just the c9 ui...without node as the server? I know functionality will be lost, but would this at all be possible? (I know this is a sacrilege to ask in here, but its the only way I can think of to accomplish what I need.)

22:13:17  <gjtorikian>the c9 ui, no. but maybe you can just use the editing component of ace: https://github.com/ajaxorg/ace
22:15:18  <gman>I was defintily looking at that, and I if I have to I will. I really don't want to give up all of the other great features of c9 like tabs.
22:17:56  <gman>even if I pulled out all the js files and hacked it back together? its in no way feasable? or it would just take a ton of work?
